Are there extended stay type hotels in your area?

My understanding is that to be classified as a hotel and active you need to be providing substantial services.  

Vacationers are starting to go back to hotels as Airbnb fees have increased and they don't want to deal with cleaning dishes on top of paying cleaning fees.We stayed in a nice vacation rental on the Oregon Coast and there was evidence that kids or homeless were hanging about when it was vacant.  

No, but there are many "haunted houses" here in LA including a couple hotels.  

Can't speak to the organization in Michigan but generally the benefits of a well run STRA far outweigh the costs.I am a property manager in Hawaii so we are constantly being hit with new anti-STR legislation and have a large, well-funded hotel lobby to deal with constantly.

Sneaky duplex is a term I coined and is when you section off part of your home and create a short term rental unit, like a hotel room.

To provide an example, I was previously employed in the legal department of HHM, which at the time was a an affiliate management company of a publicly traded hotel development/operation company where we managed  the portfolio of  hotels as well as provided 3rd party management services.
