So without hedging , your portfolio has 1.0 deltawith TBT 10 and SDS 10, your portfolio perhaps has 0.7-0.8 delta.If you construct your portfolio to be SDS 25 + TLT 25 + TBT 25 + SDS 25Then your portfolio is 0 delta or we call it delta neutral hedging, which means if stock going up or lower your portfolio $ value is always more or less the same.I always delta neutral hedge my portfolio when I see risk in the market so I know I wouldn't lose money even if index going down.

But I'm also partway through getting a HELOC and another private note created... hard to give an accurate answer to this question when the target is always moving.At the end of the day my primary goal is expansion at this point so I try to stay relatively close to neutral cash flow in order to grow more quickly... all the while keeping sufficient liquidity around to cover the worst scenarios I can imagine and making sure my credit / financial ratios remain healthy.
