Before considering building an accessory dwelling unit in California I would definitely look in into the SB9 single lot split or multi family option.

You can go to the planning dept. and find out if they will allow an ADU (Auxiliary Dwelling Unit) on a single family property?

AG,The coverage you mention "Personal Injury Protection" (or similar name) is an additional coverage which extends the Liability under a Homeowners or Dwelling Fire policy to include coverage for Libel, Slander, wrongful entry, etc. 

@Charlene Byssainthe I'm not familiar with the ATL market, but it looks like you already have great advice on that realm in this thread, my only other point of observation and what I'd instantly want to check on is what are the local rules around licensing and taxes with an Air Bnb.
