And often times people feed into this culture of every time they get a pay raise, they go get a new car payment, or something else, so they live their entire lives paycheck to paycheck ("people buy these days, no one rents!"

Keep in mind landlords fail all the time.. that's were the sharper landlords pick up their deals.. from failed landlords.so unless you really know what you want and are committed as a team Your wife is best left doing what she wants.and there is nothing wrong with stopping to smell the roses along the way.you don't want to be a miser and then have a bad life event and never have had any cool life experiences.. to me those are as important as investing.. we live in the Jet age.. if we don't partake in it.. seems kind of sad.what used to be the province of multi millionaires anyone can fly across the world for under 1000 dollars and get those cool cultural experiences.. so just a little different perspective than all the posts that say she is nuts and you got to talk her into it one way or the other. 

However, the triad of owners, guests, and managers seems to be rife with unrealistic expectations perhaps, maybe in part due to unclear expectations and our cultures current insistence on instant gratification.

But today's technology and culture does allow more people than ever to work from anywhere.2.

I'm not sure if it is the local culture or if this is common elsewhere among trades-people.

IMO it takes very little expertize to construct or decorate in the "modern-contemporary" aesthetic.

Culture fit is HUGE.

I also know many people who have moved here from overseas and have gone back, because there are better capitalistic opportunities for them in their birth country.Many Americans think there is no other place in the world worth living; in my experience, those are the people that tend to have very little cultural exposure.
