FYI……..On the front of check I wrote "FULL and FINAL Payment" …and then ….on the back where he endorsed I wrote " Payment in FULL for security deposit return for lease @Address".He cashed the check today….I can sleep better now.

They bought liability insurance for their company but their insurance agent forgot to buy an endorsement in their policy to cover them personally as well, so they were left in a lurch. 

Checks from the insurance will be made out to you and the lender and both will have to endorse.

That said, the IRS can (and does) challenge even the most non-controversial positions.If you were my client, I would have endorsed your partial exclusion.
