We've had to provide letters and invoices from our adoption agencies clearly stating how much the adoptions cost, and where we were in the fee schedule (the combined cost of the 3 adoptions was almost $100,000.)

@Jeffery Waicak it looks like many missed that you mentioned it is your friend with the good credit, not a random agency pairing people.If you were to do something like this, I would recommend an LLC with a well thought out Operating Agreement.

I have been through this a number of times, and I also worked for the IRS, and I have never seen anyone other than the taxpayer, the taxpayer's representative, or a licensed escrow or fiduciary agency handling a transfer, get a tax lien released.But it looks like you could make the situation work for you.
