So I've been doing some preliminary research for Vegas, and someone I spoke with recommended single story homes with 3 car garage.

If you used it to repair your primary home it could be 2nd mortgage with limitation, if you used the proceeds for a new sports car it is personal and no deduction.

We currently have no car and are renting one until this process is complete. 

I have had them come back years later wanting to pay me so they could buy a home or get a car loan.

It doesn't take a lot of figuring to see how they keep their house, their cars, their lives to know what kind of job they are going to do.

They are simply free lancers, driving for car shared companies, or becoming Task Rabbiters and Thumbtack professionals.  

I have cash that I've saved but cannot use because I have not kept it in the bank so I am paying off my car with that and then taking a new loan out against to show history of the money and then I am taking a loan against my 401k to cover the rest.  

Stay away from cars, trucks, boats...

The unit I'm looking at is a 3/2 with an attached 1 car, and I would need to get $1600.

I would highly suggest digging out enough space for 2 cars to park.
