There aren't usually any fees associated with the loan but that varies by plan administrator I would only recommend this is you are ahead in saving for retirement, unless you believe you can get a 3-6% return a year on the money you will invest in buying a property.

When its all said and done, the costs of administration of a 35 year contract will be more than twice the cost of a 17 year contract, allowing a higher present value to be disbursed today.That's how I see it.
