We did this primarily because a) we can borrow at a lower cost and b) it is easier for us to use equity lines of credit on our existing Canadian properties, than secure a mortgage in the U.S.A.In your instance, where you are no longer resident in Britain, you should first determine whether you remain able to refinance your property under terms and at a rate that makes business sense.

This isn't as big as some of the other inspirational stories on here but I view it as a win.I went through my first eviction late last year and lost a few months of rent on the unit while things were winding through the courts and before the sheriff could show up for the set out.
