You can find a duplex in Portland for $250k and in outlying areas (Columbia county, Clackamas county, Yamhill county, East Portland etc.) for $200k.There's also private lending and hard money, but that depends on your network, your means, and your tolerance for risk.Another option is to partner with someone with more money than you, and you can contribute to the project in other ways (managing, finding the deal, etc.).

All those properties are whole ownership.Starwood started Franchising the Westin Brand a few years ago, and most of the new Westin Condo-hotels are franchises now.I can't comment on the appreciation part, but I do know that another Westin Condo Hotel in Whistler British Columbia has seen a healthy appreciation since it opened.

It could take months before they call me even a whole year...So I’m trying to decide whether I should stay in my current city (Columbia SC) and build my real estate business here since I already have a network of people here and some knowledge of the city or wait till I get the call and when I go to Jacksonville start that it there.If I wait till I move, I know I would have to start networking and learning the area which could be a lot more challenging than just staying and starting where I’m already at but maybe not?
