It is exactly the same with building codes and professional licensing.

There is an exclusion for your primary residence which is found in sec 121 of the IRS code. 

You can connect your bank and credit card accounts and transactions get pulled in automatically, you just have to code them. 

Not to mention dodging code enforcement for three whole months!
