I don't think they'll have a problem with you borrowing the money, assuming it doesn't kill your personal DTI or otherwise weaken your overall financial position.If you partner, it's not just between you and that person.

Every liability should have an asset to go with It though, so unless you are buying something that has negative equity, it should strengthen, not weaken your position.

Nobody in this area is going to want a 4 story townhome located smack in the middle of a busy intersection, not even as a rental, and cookie cutter properties are the first to weaken in a downturn.
