Carefully-tended ivy on masonry buildings isn't as much of a problem, but on brick veneer properties, yes, allowing it to get a foothold and spread is a real problem.

I sub out anything that needs a license to perform (hvac, elec, plumbing), I sub out roofs, siding, driveways, masonry and have in the past subbed out landscaping, painting and tile work.
