@Tricia O'BrienRecommend exploring as many sources as possible to get referrals AND cross-reference them to get as much accurate information as possible.Check out NARPM.com, BP’s Property Manager Finder (BiggerPockets: The Real Estate Investing Social Network), etc.Also, encourage you to learn from the mistakes of others - by reading posts here on BiggerPockets about owners not having their expectations met by their current Property Management Company.

Here are a few suggestions on how you can maximize the wealth of information available: Check out the blogs and podcasts, or take advantage of the search feature (magnifying glass).

It is hard to respond to this without fully understanding the issue and missing pertinent information such as what market etc. 

Ask whether or not the insurer is licensed as a foreign or non-United States (alien) insurer and for additional information about the insurer.

There are many many threads in these forums about it, some of the information may be a bit dated, but the general idea is the same.

It is harder to find good information if the forum is cluttered with low value information.
