So my coffee station is supplied with a crystal sugar bowl, my soap dishes are lead crystal, my mis-matched wine glasses are awesome, a  crystal dish holds popurri in the bedroom.   

But what I did was looked up population in denver so that I won'd go too far into the areas where I have to walk ten miles to ask for sugar.

The cost to turn on the power and have it hooked up is a fixed cost, it does not matter waht consumption is.

The range hood looks disgusting because someone had spilled cooking oil down onto it, and then a bag of sugar.  

Catch more flies with sugar!

More people cooking/sharing a kitchen, more showers being taken affecting hot water consumption, more persons to occupy one of the couches or tvs, more personalities to adapt with and keep consideration for, etc., plus the utilities you mentioned- water, Wi-Fi, shared amenities such as paper towels and soap etc.I’m not trying to be combative, as your point makes sense.

Many hobby landlords sugar coat that part.

Ask if they have sugar every morning for my coffee?
