They will then simply track your gf's income and where it goes, a 2k paycheck is simple to account, what cards they paid, what's left in bank, and if there's an extra 3k on the bills paid, then it wont be rocket science for anyone to guess where it comes from.The thing is simple, either it is legal or not, what you think is irrelevant, it is not other types of illegal activities where you are innocent until proven guilty, once fraud is imposed, you are guilty until proven innocent.

The simple answer is they all know, they all know all about this, believe me, when you're a tax cheat you know the rules better than anyone, pleading ignorance and things like "nobodies ever 1099'd me before" combined with being upset about it means they know exactly what they are doing and know why they don't want that 1099.
