To try to avoid pulling the pin and dropping a grenade on your post here's something I think might alleviate the rent concern:I heard a technique somewhere, probably from @Brandon Turner, on one of the podcasts about using a phantom craigslist ad to test the waters.  

I am going to sell my car to try to alleviate that cost, but until it sells I will jump back in the Lyft game, thank you for the reminder.

However, the sub-2 doesn't alleviate the debt from the owner's credit report. 

To be honest, my lady wears the tool belt in the relationship and I'm just hired muscle, but I'm very confident in her vision, skills and execution, and I think there's very little that we wouldn't be able to tackle in terms of fixing up our first property.

Often by the time we muscle thru all the paper work the deal falls apart.

Not purely as an investment but also an exercise for my design and construction muscles.

The city has been cautious and learning some lessons from other metros in their expansions and are currently working on completing a large scale trolly system to help alleviate the current transportation network.

From what I am seeing, I may have to have the town or Police handle this removal as it alleviates a lot legal issues I would have to bare should I do this on my own.  

I think values are going to continue to rise (and rents along with them) and I don't see any signs of capacity/supply coming online to alleviate the shortages.
