I have relatives by marriage that think having the most expensive home they can own is worthwhile because of the interest deduction, but the deduction + appreciation is less than the cost of what they spend on the house, not to mention the opportunity losses by blowing all your money on a massive house. 

My Intrest in REI at this point are , short sales, Bird dogging, Rehab a home and sell or rent it.As for my back ground ,I worked 20+ years for Lucent Technolagies, after that I lived part time in Thailand and had intrest in several " Bars "their, been very lucky to have traveled to a lot of the world, now I have a live in Girlfriend ( last 4 years ) no not Married , I think Marriage is the Number one cause of Divorce.

It's like being required to stay in an arranged marriage for 5 years, when you never met the person before in your life.
