We would financially not be able to complete the project. 

Another investor in our mortgage fund wanted to visit every borrower and discuss their personal financial situation with them.  

We were able to free up some capital so in the end we decided to keep the assets. 

Hard lesson learned for me that my family isn't to be trusted ever again and that I need to severe my relationship with them completely because they have harmed me & my child emotionally & financially.  

Many investors have started off with less and leveraged their way to financial freedom. your just not there yet.

And, comment to all, is there any ability to track these assets and see who owns the notes right now?

Now if you're just looking to make your credit report look better, that might work but not sure why that would be worthwhile unless you were just looking to borrow more consumer-type debt rather than hard asset notes. 

@Loan NguyenRecommend you first figure out the property Class you want to invest in, THEN figure out the corresponding location to invest in.Property Class will typically dictate the Class of tenant you get, which greatly IMPACTS rental income stability and property maintenance/damage by tenants.If you apply Class A assumptions to a Class B or C purchase, your expectations won’t be met and it may be a financial disaster.If you buy/renovate a Class A property in Class D area, what quality of tenant will you get?
