I was happy to have them as tenants.I understand your concern about having a heat source around an oxygen tank. 

Long term... its a little scary knowing that these buildings are so old and may need major replacements roof/siding/heating or air.

The rent from my roommate and the second unit of the duplex cover my mortgage, insurance, taxes, maintenance, cap ex, vacancies, heat, electric, water, and internet!

I'm a CA girl now and can't get past the furnace/heat thing in PA.  

I've tried using a heating tool similar to a hairdryer with good success.

If you've got glazing, a heat gun will save you lots of aggravation.

The property was converted from an oil based heating to a gas based heating system.

Because of a bed bug issue (all tenants left, whole building needed heat treatment, I was pretty heated myself...)- And many more...I am not necessarily richer than before I invested in RE but I'd say my life is somewhat richer...I am never bored.Please send me a message if like me, your parents are source of inspiration and if your love for real estate does not get tarnished by your "love" for bed bugs and dealing with ignorant lenders...
