As the title suggests, I've been on the market for my first property for the past month and a half, and have been searching for SF and Duplex properties in my area of interest of Northeast OH (Canton, Massillon, North Canton, Canal Fulton, Green, Uniontown).

It's more important than doing individual property analysis, because when you do a proper market analysis, you are analyzing ALL of the properties in any market(s) at the same time.Now, one of the analysis "pitfalls" is not understanding what defines a market, or more importantly, a Micro-market.Another problem is focusing on one strategy, and trying to fit each market/property. 

I have been devouring books by Brandon Turner to get a better grasp on a macro view of the theories of real estate investing .

You don't want to overstretch on the first one.In terms of evaluating quality deals, you won't know what those are for a while so you want to get as many reps looking at properties as possible.

You can also look into the builder to make sure that they are reputable.Also, look up some videos on selling a house for sale by owner in your state.

I have a waiver on the 90 hours, and just taking the 60 hour courses.Oh ok.

Out of curiosity, how much do you expect to make on the STR?
