If so replace it.If all of these things are ok, then put in a moisture barrier over the dirt floor under the house. 

So it's safe to presume there are moisture issues with the foundation and water management will be a part of the cost of ownership.  

They are pressboard covered in a cement coating and the ends are ceceptible to moisture if not primed during installation and painted and maintained.  

I do have an alarm installed on it, my boyfriend and I tested it by exposing it to water and it is plenty loud and lasts for 40 hours with a constant beep until you remove it from the moisture.

Install automatic moisture sensing fans or a switch that turns them on when moisture is present.  

Similarly, touches like entryway rugs to collect some dirt/moisture can add some charm while helping keep floors clean.

Basement has moisture issues that have to be handled correctly I would get an exhaust fan for the room and hopefully it has an working window. 

Increase the ventilation and check for moisture thru bath fans which need to vent to the exterior or close to an opening etc.

A lot of folks do it (https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/67/topics/973...) but some materials experts are concerned with moisture and breathability issues caused by painted brick.What I've found is that painting won't change the value (technically), but curb appeal and making a good impression on the appraiser always helps.From the picture, it looks like you will be getting a commercial appraisal so the numbers matter more than how it will compare to other properties.I'd wait.
