@ Rich Harmon, I went to actually check out that link, and we see its a protest by the lying fauxahontas Elizabeth Warren, who milked the Indian background to get preferential treatment, despite not being a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, or enrolled in the Eastern Band, or is not one of the United Keetoowah Bands of Cherokee.

I know as an Enrolled Agent I have looked at several tax situations similiar to what you describe and taken the deduction and thought I would have no problem defending it in an audit.

Plus even if you can buy in the Bay Area great schools aren't guaranteed when you go down to enroll your kid and find out the school is overcrowded and you have to send them somewhere else.I know they'd much rather stay where they are, but most simply can't afford to.

You lose any potential benefits of the Loan Forgiveness Program (which I looked into and didn't qualify for, but it involved 10 yrs of employment by a non-profit and the government would grandfather - those already enrolled in the program - in after changing the rules).
