The bank has agreed to our last counteroffer on the purchase price but now they want me to sign a form stipulating that we have to agree to forfeit our 10K in earnest money if we walk away at any point after I sign off on the inspection (i.e. like if we can't come up with the cash for some strange reason).The bank informs us that this is there way to feel more secure--given my 45 day waiting period---that I'll pay for the property by the specified closing date.

If you get a counter offer, you have room to go up, but don't go over the maximum, or you'll be paying out of your pocket instead of with OPM (other people's money; the bank's and the tenant's!!)

I docusigned my counter offer and sent it back 15 minutes after the 1pm deadline.

Understand that what you consider a "counter" is not actually a "counter offer" that you can accept....it is simply the terms they will accept, if you offer them.  

It may be tempting to put in a lower offer but with the bank taking highest  and best thay leaves no wiggle room for a counter offer or something like that.

The sellers considered it a "low ball offer" so much that they didn't even counter offer!!  

Dear short sale experts - need help with building a counter offer on a short sale with pnc bank: 1.

I wish there were an easy answer for these things.I guess I could just ask him, but I don't want him to ask too much, then start bad blood between us when I counteroffer.

I reviewed the PICRA and have agreed to repair the items on that list, but I counter offered them stating that I will not pay the closing cost.
