What I thought was going to do a simple diy on my well, turned into almost a whole weekend ordeal that involved cutting rusted together fittings and sourcing new ones that would spring a leak (thanks for "great" lowes quality on their 1" barb fittings from china...) - whose great idea was it to create pipe threads that need either tape or pipe dope to actually seal?

On 1 project we over built in order to capture more net metering, incentives were there, all vendors came back in 2018 stating their estimates are increase by 12% due to China trade war, plus we were anticipating building an ADU/granny flat. 

China and Russia see this and have been buying A LOT of gold (which is very wise of them).

It's quicker to do all laminate though and may outlast tile.Ollies bargain outlet has laminate but it's not any better or of any better value than box stores.You can buy a shipping container of laminate from China on alibaba which may have some added savings if you have a lot of flooring to do.I typically don't bother with an underlayment because it is added cost and provides little value IMHO.

Having attended several Xmas parties with a diverse group of friends one or two will take you aside looking for a rental or a rehab property for a family member or just how to get 'into' the business as the Xmas bonus & matched retirement prospects are becoming a thing of the past.My favorite 70 yr old friend owns a very successful mfg company & he loves to chat about China, downsizing personnel & interesting tax issues.

Cabinets go together easily and are all solid plywood and well built but are from China.
