The vacationer with a minimum of a 1-week stay?

It'd soak up all of our available capital but throw off a nice rental income stream from vacationers (especially in high season).

The one month is really for month to month leases but the point is to have committed members of the community as opposed to transients or vacationers.

Assume that vacationers will generally be kinder to a property than someone with a longer lease, but also that they'll crank the AC and leave the lights on.

Vacationers are looking for the real "Hawaii Life" on Oahu where the South is over populated, North Shore still has it.

You could mitigate that if you cater to a variety of guests, not just vacationers. 

You're going to be airbnbing to startup employees who are in town for a brief time to meet with the team, or people being flown in for interviews in this case, probably not too many vacationers (though that's just a guess on my part, I don't have direct experience with it).With a little bit of luck you can get a 3-4 bed in west oakland for ~400-600k, which should cashflow at those numbers easily.

Does anyone have experience in owning property around a lake and rent them out to vacationers/fisher people?
