Its a good place to retired there.

Northern NJ is not the best place for retirement but it is a great place to raise a family due to the great schools and for those needing easy access to NYC.

My brother in law told me a few years ago that I was the luckiest sob he had ever known but it took me 33 years of living below my means and working hard to buy enough rentals to retire with the same standard of living that we were used to.

However, nearing retirement, with our past experience in mind, we decided to try it again, this time just rehabbing one house to flip.So, I set up a self-directed IRA so we could use the retirement money we had left after the recession, and bought a foreclosure house that needed a lot work.

Essentially ended up screwed out of a substantial chunk of retirement savings and left to find my own lender elsewhere to close the deal.

My one worry is if the stock value goes down when I retire, like the stock market went down at the beginning of COVID. 

But move into a retirement "job" for Sean. 

@Kyle Atans  or PHX when building stopped dead cold and they deported half the construction workers who happened to be 80% of the tenant base.. same with central CA building stopped  no deportation though :)I just bought in Vegas for semi retirement and tax purposes I kind of like were it sits now.. but no question your timing of that market was impeccable.. !!! 

I have tried to do a HELOC but I’ve recently retired from the military and haven’t started another W2 therefore lenders don’t want to approve the HELOC.
