I am sitting in Dubai's ginormous, flashy airport checking my BP dashboard as I wait to fly to India for work. 

To me big flashy things dont mean much.

My view point: When it come to PMs it's really not about the technology or the 'flashiness' or even about the price or rates... it's more about the SERVICE and the trust, can you trust a PM to have your best interest in mind when you're not looking and even if you were completely absent (you do have owner responsibilities) -- It sounds like you can, again I don't know the full story and just going off of what you wrote, but it sounds like he has been doing just that. 

Everyone likes to get caught up in the finishes and the flashy stuff, but I've seen beautiful projects that lose money because they paid too much for the property. 

People comment all the time what a crazy cool “expensive” car it is - fun sometimes because it starts conversations but it feels like it definitely gives people the impression of a flashy car/truck.

They get preyed on a lot by flashy headlines on social media.

I am not talking about the gurs and flashy investors offering some sort of course or product... all you NORMAL people trying hard to m ake it.

The reason we hear so many horror stories from Landlords is that most Landlords hire the first PM to come up on a Google search, the one with a flashy website, the one with the lowest rates, or the one that's willing to negotiate how they manage just to win your business.
