Check the neighbourhoods around the city centre: La Saidia, Patraix, Les Corts,...Buy as cheap as possible, if it's for long term is better to buy a property without elevator, but with some space to be installed --> 30-40k maximum.

We also had a water issue two years ago at one of our rehab properties caused by a contractor who was supposed to be installing floors and new kitchen.

There is also a place where a kitchen can be installed (my mother used to have one there, but removed the stove and had the gas cut off), and there is also a place for a full sized washer and gas dryer in the basement.

While the interest rate tightening does virtually nothing to the mortgage rates, it makes everything else; cars, credit cards, installment debt, more expensive and again, hurts already fragile debt ratios.Hope this gives you some food for thought.Stephanie
