These can pose to potentially have of problems but a lot of investors in my area are still purchasing such properties, probably by expertise in knowing what to expect in older homes.Either way, i would pay attention more attention to products built in the 1920's than those built in the 1990's etc.

Sometimes the loan officer is just incompetent or not paying attention.

The 'Silicon Valley' tag is the Forbes author's twist, but I think is clearly a bit of hyperbole designed to grab reader attention, something more and more difficult to do, especially for a piece of this length.

As time goes on, we may find ourselves more interested in selling off properties as values appreciate, but for the moment, we want to make sure anything we buy will be a good option for a long term rental if our attentions are elsewhere.
