Honestly, I wasn't aware that they were taking investments from individual investors.

It is not uncommon to have to park blocks away from your residence.  

I agree with @Jonathan Greene here that the first step is thinking through what to do with the primary residence - you might try this tool that I built a few months ago to analyze whether you should keep or sell the primary residence! 

My personal residence has a single basin sink and we use a drying rack similar to the one pictured below and never really even considered it a problem
