Based on it being fire damage and the section of the home is blocked off, you might be better off having a structural engineer or architect take a look at it before a GC to determine if there is structural damage.

@Greg Dickerson I am a full-time architect, however i am just fresh out of school and have very little knowledge on residential projects. 

The final detailed inspection was completed with the write up submitted by a Commercial Architect who is a good friend of ours.Now I definitely assess 3+ multi units with a lot more respect & insight.Good luck on your project & I will be watching for updates.
