Basically these sessions and training are a way to gain trust, provide the lender with some confidence that the folks they are lending to have an understanding of what they are doing at some level... all in an effort to get them to allow them to fund their deals.

I don't know if I have ever attended a session of this particular company listed above, but I often go when I see a pitch, just to see if I can pick up anything.
