Flooded basements is such a common problem in some midwest markets that I did a whole podcast on the subject. 99% of water intrusion is due to improper drainage and soil grading and can be mitigated by having properly functioning gutters and downspouts and grading the soil away from the foundation.

Also—a hump in the middle if the room is usually one of two things:-the floor was saggy and owners jacked up the middle but overcompensated-the exterior walls have settled deeper than the middle because the exterior perimeter soil is wetter over the years due to rainfall off the eaves

They spray some chemical around the house, and it goes a certain depth into the soil and creates a chemical barrier the termites cant pass through.
