It looked fun, they made lots of money, and on tv it "appeared" to be so easy.

When we even left the door to the server room open (when our one A/C was dying), we would have a really hard time listening to our TV at a normal volume level.  

Plenty of space when hosting relatives that like to hang out in the kitchen, but away from the loud TV room.

When you hear people saying "using none of my own money" and other such dumb phrases, and the leveraging boys going on and on about how they are on their way to their first $10m, TV shows about flipping properties using your neurotic wife as a designer, or two guys one of which owns a sledgehammer, all redoing houses, and then flipping them for a (massive) profit - face it - the forum is going to attract nutters.And where's the qualification in all of this?

For stories that are covered worldwide (US presidential elections, the Olympics, etc), you will already sort of know what the story is, which can help you fill in the gaps.If you get any TV channels (satellite or cable) in your target language, watch them with the closed captions turned on.If you are very familiar with any religious writings (like the Bible, Torah, Koran, Bhagavad Gita, or anything else), look up a version of that in the target language.
