@An LamI think if the scam had caught you, you’d have to sue the title company for negligence for failing to keep the emails of the transaction safe and causing you to fall prey to a malicious actor.You would NOT be covered by FDIC but the title company might choose to cover you because they’d be very likely to lose that lawsuit.

The leak was from a toilet leak that we only knew about after the mold was reported to us on Sunday so there's no negligence or anything of that nature.All the articles I read regarding mold say that it's a very subjective area in that black mold is rare.

It seems like a combination of ignorance and negligence - there were a few issues that I think they genuinely didn't know about, e.g. they installed a furnace closet in an area where it is not allowed (a bedroom).
