maybe that one on the other unit is the only one and never changed when the unit became a 2 family. if you have a slop sink in the basement, or even your laundry hookup, you can hook a hose up to them. ( best bet is the laundry hook up )

The little details always eat you alive - there were probably $300 in miscellaneous plumbing supplies (shut-off valves at each fixture, braided hoses, copper fittings, etc).
