Shane Mcc I want to build my home without any help of a GC. What do I need to do?
10 January 2015 | 37 replies
It cost about $20K more than if I had had a GC doing that part of the job for me, as he would have piece-mealed it out as I indicated above, and even with his fee, would have been a LOT less than the high-end turn-key company I ended up hiring.Luckily, that was the only part that I had to turn-key like that (though there were a couple other places I chose to do it); but if I had to hire everything out to turn-key companies because I didn't know what I was doing, I would have paid double what I did, and it would have been cheaper to bring in a GC.

It is quiet and does not disturb tenants3. lawn looks better and healthier (supposedly)4. if i schedule it to mow at night, it will (hopefully) keep deer awayCons:1. this thing will require monthly service - just basic cleaning and blade replacement (those are very cheap)2. risk of theft is low where I am, plus I'll add it to the property insurance, so this is a minor "con"3. myself (or someone else) needs to get it out of the basement in the spring and put it away in the autumn.I wonder if anyone already uses them and can share their mileage.
