It has been a dream of ours to own rental properties.

It is the intention to live there, but if something comes up i.e. neighborhood troubles, job placement, additional family member, etc. then there isn't an issue. 

Depreciation, the tax write off from my then high paying job had value.Over time, rents increased and property value went up.
