I am a huge DIYer and so far - Laid the vinyl flooring 1500sqft- Installed Recess lights (40 lights)- Built a retaining wall (35ft)- Built a pergola from ground up- Interior paint (appro 2500 sqft)- Built a wooden board-on-board fence (75ft)also, a software engineer (nerd 😊) I am 38yrs old and have some milage to do DIY to buy a partially run-down property and upgrade it.Looking forward to learning new things from the members and seek advice.

When I stepped inside, I immediately realized the interior had some significant challenges that would make the BRRR approach a lot more difficult.

I moved in and immediately replaced all of the carpet flooring in the house with engineered hardwood; I re-painted the entire interior; I replaced all kitchen appliances with new ones that I found at a discount at an outlet/scratch and dent; and replaced the water heater.

I did not take into consideration the possibility of the city deeming it an unsafe structure and requiring an architect or engineer as I had assumed I would simply be restoring the original interior framework of the property through the typical permit application process.

We did what any reasonable person would have done and moved forward on the interior work.Today a city of Milwaukee inspector showed up and said that we needed to stop and wait to hear back from the city.
