That's exactly the type of answer I was hoping for -- I got sort of mixed signals from you when you posted in my thread in the "Make Deals, Find Partners, Mentors & BirdDogs, etc." forum and this one.

The issues is the bad sensor will cause the other detectors to start sounding since they are hardwired (the third wire going to the hardwired smoke detectors is used to signal all connected detectors to go off). 

Could a RE tease out some signal through the noise in the national builders stock price to arrive at a conclusion about their investments?

To me that signals either 1. the sponsor lacks the attention to detail to ensure the document they use to generate investors is error free or 2. they are massaging the numbers/running two models to tell investors what they want to hear.
