Good point Amit, if Joanna's question is regarding her condo conversation, then no rent control.Some Units Have Limited Rent Control Coverage Single Family Homes/Condos—You do not have full rent control protection if you live in a single family home (note that a single family home with an illegal in-law unit counts as a 2 unit building) or a condominium and you (and your roommates) moved in on or after January 1, 1996.

What you're referring to is a non warrantable condominium.  

IMO, this would make CA's house crisis even worse.The ballot initiative would repeal a state law known as Costa Hawkins that makes it illegal for cities to impose rent control on single-family rentals, condominiums or apartments built after 1995 or in some cases earlier — after a city adopted its first local rent control ordinance.Currently there are a few metropolitan areas such as LA and SF/Oakland/Mt View has rental control which hasn't subject to SFH. 

The property is "The Cotton Mill" condominium complex next to the WW II museum.
