Local newspapers can sometimes be a good source but rarely a quick source of info.I often look for the city's "comprehensive financial report" (put out by the city itself) which lists major employers.

Heres what Ive incorporated into my list so far according to List source.Geography - Staten Island, New YorkMortgage- Selected all mortgage and Clicked (Matured Mortgage) no preference on maturity dateProperty- I selected  (EQIUTY $) with a range of equity from 50,000 to 80,000, i couldn't go any higher and figured less than 50,000 might be too low.Demographics- Selected (Household) and chose a range of age from 35 to 65 years old.Foreclosure- Selected Bank Owned REO Property.

I also like the proximity to sub-major markets, Springfield, Providence, Bridgeport, Hartford, even New Haven to a degree.Median household income is higher which is a plus, of course that drives the housing market which can be both good and bad.
