Definitely start with local meet-ups and as you go along you will find people and maybe companies that align with your vision and goals. 

If you are working with a reputable company, then you buy the property, hold the property and look up 7-10 years down the road and have a home that has increased in value and a debt that has been reduced by your renter.   

Some finance companies specialize in offering mortgages to foreigners.

This was awhile ago, but in case it's helpful---There are companies that focus on supporting investors to rent by the room.

My plan is to contact some local Real Estate Attorneys, and Title Companies, to give me hopefully some more knowledge.

My thoughts are that if it’s in good enough shape I can sell to a consumer buying with a mortgage company or if needs work sell to an investor for a discount to make a profit.
