I had a 9 property deal this summer where my lender told me the day before financing contingency was up they wouldn't do the deal, I was upset but I was able to quickly switch lender's due to my previous relationships.

That will be paid either to the trustee (if day of sale/auction) or to the Clerk of Court (if placing an upset bid after the original bid was placed).

@Victoria L Richardson, @Wayne Brooks is correct, the danger is that the former owner will redeem for a legally allowed amount that is less than the 3rd party's purchase price paid for the tax deed.DO NOT believe people who tell you they have fixed up the property so it is now too expensive to redeem, or you can do that yourself.

Maybe the live-in manager has a valid request - if he done extensive repairs to the property for which he was supposed to get N months of free-rent equivalent and still has M rents remaining, then of course he is upset and not "collaborating".Get the same statement from the live-in manager and see how it reconciles with the one from the seller.
