@Adam Rego If your intent it to isolate personal assets from liability, the first place to start is a strong E&O policy. 

Here in SF the downtown areas look isolated with more homeless encampments than before.

Or do you believe that only a small isolated area would be forced to live like it were the year 1,500? 

You have crawl before you walk, one thing you don’t want to do is be isolated at home where there are too many distractions and nothing going on.

Or is it better to rent until one can buy a house he or she likes to live for the rest of one's life if one likes access to a garden or backyard as well as much needed privacy and noise isolation.

It all depends on your personal situation and market, but one option might be looking at SFHs that are large enough and "workable" to where you could rent out a room.I don't know too much, but I think there's kind of a market for renting rooms to older/single/isolated people who feel safer knowing somebody is around just in case.Might not be a "forever" lifestyle, but if it helps you get started...
