We've had great guests from both platforms (with slightly more guests we'd never welcome again coming from AirBnb vs VRBO, but that's less than a handful).In short: you can launch at the same time and still have two engaged platforms/OTAs, depending on the quality/uniqueness of your listing and your target market.
