(b) If a defendant has been once previously convicted of a violation of subdivision (a), any subsequent knowing and willful act of rent skimming shall be punishable by imprisonment in the state prison or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or by a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment.

Most of the crime is scumbag on scumbag crime, so I don't consider there to be a great threat to my safety (although I do currently have one restraining order against a convicted felon and I ALWAYS carry a handgun).Mike

The girlfriend was arrested and charged with felony possession of a firearm and it came out of the woodwork that she had killed her previous boyfriend in 2010 and been convicted of 2nd degree domestic assault in 2014...

Not to mention we have to wait another 30 days between the conviction and then having to schedule the sheriff to execute the eviction.

Now if someone is convicted of fraud or some other nefarious scheme in connection with a real estate transaction then that might land them in jail but not normal buying of property subject to or any other way.

@Lydell StaplesThere's no regulations that prevent it, but I doubt there will be many investors willing to hand over their money to a convicted felon.The world is a cruel place.
