Hey @Matthew Giblin - I'd have to echo @Shamar Gregg, Chicago offers a great section 8 program through the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA). 

(HACW being "Housing Authority County Wake"; and HAP being "Housing Assistance Program").

The section 8 voucher pays $1,550 per month to 3 bedroom properties according to the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority.

I was agreeing about your comment as to having a mentor, then I realized I didn't have a mentor when I started.Brandon, there were books, I skimmed the "Paper Game" don't recall the author but it was conceptual and a little too fluffy for me, I didn't really start by using anything in that book, if I did, it was by accident.
