As I have said numerous times here, if/when Trump wins in November the media will bring out the recession word so fast your head will spin.

Based on what I'm seeing though, it might be prudent to start look at more recession resistant properties.

I doubt values can go any lower since these priced are lower that the 08/09 recession period.  

My current city, Sioux Falls, ranks among the top for best places to live in many arenas.Unemployment has stayed consistent around the 3-4% even through the recession.

In my opinion, if we have a significant recession those investments are going to get hammered.  

Rents are hardly ever as volatile as housing prices in bubbles or recessions.

Since we are mid-progress, still have a lot to go including: Drywall (half the house needs it), painting throughout (neutral light gray tones), kitchen put back together, recessed lights installed (all LED), floors re-sanded and stained (original red oak on 1st & 2nd floor), etc etc. 

I'm not sure what the prices are like in Airdrie, Chestermere, Okotoks, etc, or how much they've felt the squeeze of the economic recession.

More savings and less consumption might equal recession.
